Tested by the Testy

Dear Teacher,

A beekeeper in Turkey reluctantly hired some bears as taste testers for his honey and the results left him pretty impressed.

Ibrahim Sedef had lost an estimated $10,000 to the local bears who were adamant about trespassing in the middle of the night to steal some honey.  For years he'd tried everything to keep them from the honey, placing it in harder to reach spots and putting out other treats like apples and breads to entice them.  None of it worked, however, and the bears were intent on raiding his honey stores.

Frustrated, Ibrahim wanted to figure out if there was a particular honey that the bears were drawn to.  So, he set up cameras pointed toward a buffet of all his different types of honey, inviting them for a taste test.  Consistently, the bears chose Ibrahim's Anzer honey, proving that the rare honey has earned its reputation as an exquisite treat.  Produced form the nectar of ninety different flowers, Anzer honey is such a fine type that only grows in the Anzer mountain plateaus.  Selling for up to $300 per kilogram, the refined substance was proving to be desirable to both humans and bears.

Despite the expense, Ibrahim forgave the bears for the damage they'd done, forgetting all about it after watching the footage of the bear taste test.  Instead, he chose to simply love the little rascals.

And you, Teacher, there in your classroom, may feel like you're dealing with a bunch of rascals this time of year, leaving you bearly hanging on.  Yet, day after day, you choose to love them despite them breaking rules and stealing attention away from learning.  You carefully refine your teaching practices, learning what works for each students' learning modalities, modifying your delivery style to cater to their individual appetites.  And most importantly, you consistently contextualize everything you do with the Lord's law, testimony, precepts, and commandments because you know that it is "more to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb [Psalm 19:10]."
