The two Cleveland, Ohio auto repair shop owners began their business operating out of a van. Specializing in car cleaning and washing, they have now gained viral status with millions of followers who watch their auto transformations from abandoned to amazing. One reviewer wrote: "They're not detailers. They magically find abandoned cars in barns and clean them."
One of the "magical cleanings" was done on a brand new Corvette. A time capsule from 1981, the limited edition was buried under a thick layer of grime, only having been driven home from the dealership with a one-time mileage of 33 on the odometer! The luxury sports car didn't have a rip, tear, or scratch and still bore the temporary license tag. The dealership plastic was still evident in the interior.
Nevertheless, after sitting fifty years in a garage, the Corvette harbored a rat's nest on the engine and filthy exterior. Hiding in the darkened depths of a shed, the 'vette had long been abandoned and forgotten. It was unimpressive, unwanted, and unworthy.
That is until it was redeemed. After a power wash, engine scrub, and carpet shampoo, the silver beauty gleamed in all its newfound glory. Yet, it wasn't a testament to its own greatness, but rather the hard work and investment of the ones that had cleaned it.
And you, Teacher, there in your classroom, likely have pieces of you hidden in the darkened depths of your soul. You've probably felt unimpressive, unwanted, and unworthy. Nevertheless, despite the filth of sin and feeling abandoned and forgotten, the "magical cleaning" power of Jesus is transformative. Thanks to His sacrifice, you can gleam in your original glory, not as a testament to your own greatness, but rather to the hard work and investment of the One that cleaned you.
