Nest Mess
Dear Teacher,
All year long, a camera live-streamed the life of an eagle's nest, drawing in loyal viewers from around the world. Each spring, though, the feed shut off for a month, usually the quietest time when the nest sat empty before the eagles returned. However, this year, when cameras came back online, thousands of people tuned in and were shocked by what they saw.
There in the eagle's nest, was not just an eagle, but a goose, calmly sitting in the nest with her own eggs right beside the eagle's clutch!
Word spread quickly, and scientists were notified. After reviewing the footage and the location, they concluded that deforestation had left the geese with nowhere safe to build a nest. Spotting the eagle's carefully crafted incubator, the goose took a chance, soon after laying her own eggs in the same space.
Now the unusual roommates have the world watching, with viewers glued to the feed to see what happens next. As one researcher put it, "It's amazing how different species can get along with it comes to life, but humans can't." In this case, a Canada goose and a bald eagle peacefully shared a nest -- Two rivals turned roommates, proving nature still has surprises left.
And, you, Teacher, there in your classroom, have carefully curated the perfect learning environment to incubate student learning. However, chances are that, down the hall, in a nextdoor classroom or office, there's an educator or administrator that has flown in without warning. With different backgrounds, experiences, and qualifications, it may be hard to share your natural habitat together. In fact, the power struggles and undercurrent dynamics may have you feeling like you're going into extinction. So, what's going to happen next? Will one of you be "kicked out of the nest," or will you allow the Creator of heavens and earth to turn rivals into roommates, proving that nature still has surprises left?
"Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
Sharing a nest takes courage, resiliency, and conflict resolution. Shock all those watching and settle into His clutch.
Nesting with you,
