Sprayed and Soaked
Dear Teacher,
Recent doorbell footage captured a professional businessman leaving his house in the morning, ready for work. With briefcase in-hand, wearing a full suit, starched shirt, and tie, he steps outside, ready for his daily commute. In his first steps, he was greeted by his over-eager golden retriever who usually accompanied him to his vehicle.
However, this particular morning, the dog had the garden hose in his and sprayed his owner at full blast, chasing his owner around the yard. No amount of dodging and briefcase blocking could keep him from getting fully soaked! So what did he do? He finally surrendered and stood still as he was covered with the chaos and unconditional love of his dog. He embraced the moment and set work aside, focusing his attention on the one who truly mattered.
And you, Teacher, there in your classroom, may feel completely "hosed" this time of year. With Christmas pageants, musical performances, holiday traditions, and gifts to parents, this month can feel completely overwhelming. While you work hard to be the professional you always are, you're hit with a stream of chaos.
And the truth is that no amount of dodging and blocking can keep the onslaught a bay. So what do you? You surrender, standing still and covered with the chaos and unconditional love of your Savior, embracing the moment and setting work aside. Despite the busyness of December, you will stop misstep and focus your full attention on the One who truly matters.
Getting sprayed with you,
Mindy
